Counselling

Counselling can help by assisting clients to gain understanding and acceptance.

When people have problems they usually turn to family and friends for advice and guidance.
Sometimes however, people may be left more confused than before, as each person's experience will be unique to them.
Most individuals will find it difficult to understand that the position of the person seeking help will be quite different to their own.
People quite often turn away from talking to those closest to them for fear of ridicule and humiliation.
It may be easier for them to speak to someone who is independant.

Potential benefits of counselling far surpass helping people with problems.
Counsellors are able to connect with people, understand them and have empathy towards their feelings whilst providing them with
unconditional positive regard (respect) and remaining non judgemental.

Counselling is designed to aid in the understanding of one's self and to find meaningful reactions to life's situations.
Research proven skills are used to encourage self sufficiency and help the client move forward in life.
Clients learn the extraordinary value of one to one communication and developing healthy relationships, leading to the healing
of the body, mind and spirit.

Appointments

Appointments are on a one to one basis (face to face). 

Confidentiality

I aim to make your counselling session as relaxing an experience as possible.
I also endeavour to create a safe, secure and confidential environment enabling openness and ease of disclosure of what can be delicate, sensitive and often painful issues.
Confidentiality is important to the practice of CTA and to all of its clients.

The ethical guidelines for the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) are followed at all times.

Material revealed in counselling will remain strictly confidential except when: 
1 The client signs a written release of information indicating formal consent of such release; 
2 The client expresses intent to harm self or someone else; 
3 There is a reasonable suspicion of abuse or neglect against a minor child, dependent adult or elderly person age sixty-five or older; 
4 By law, any information about terrorism must be reported to the police. 
5 Material from our session is used in clinical supervision while carefully protecting your identity and; 
6 A court order is received directing the disclosure of information. A subpoena is not a court order and not sufficient for release. 
7 Otherwise, we cannot disclose any information outside of the treatment context without a written authorisation from all individuals competent to sign such authorisation.

Verbal authorisation will not be sufficient except in emergency situations. However, this disclosure would be discussed with you in the session and I will try and involve you in the decision making process about any action taken.

Fees


Charge are by the session (which is no longer than one hour).

The fee below is what you pay regardless of the length of session.

Fees for individuals are £40 for the first (assessment session) and subsequent sessions.

Fees for Companies, Employment Assisted Programme Providers, Private Health Insurance Providers or similar referrals vary per session and are dependant on the arrangements agreed by the referrer.

The provisions for any individual report is charged at an additional £70.

How Can I Pay For My Counselling Sessions?

I accept cash or a cheque (with bankers card).

Unless we have a prior agreement, payment is usually made immediately after the session.

Tuesday  - 8.30am to 6:30pm
Wednesday  - 8:30am to 7:30pm
Friday - 8.00am to 5:00pm

How Long Do Counselling Sessions Last?

A counselling session will usually last approximately between 50 minutes and an hour.

What Happens If I Have To Cancel Or Reschedule My Counselling Session?

If we agree to work together on your issues it is very important and a matter of mutual respect that you keep your appointments.

If for any reason you need to cancel an appointment I will need at least 2 days notice.

In an emergency I accept rescheduling of appointments within 24 hours of your appointment time.

All clients need to understand from the outset that the time you book is yours and I am unable to fit another client into your appointment slot at short notice.

Cancelling with less than 24 hours or simply not turning up for an appointment will incur the full fee for the session you have booked.

Fees are subject to review and may be amended subject to at least 28 days notice.
